World Environment Day

    5th June is celebrated as World Environment Day. And the celebration of World Environment Day is also known as Vanamahotsava. In addition to environmental concerns, a decision was taken to celebrate Environment Day in the 1972-73 United Nations General Assembly with the aim of spreading awareness about the importance of environment to the people. Since 1974, every year World Environment Day has been celebrated with a specific theme. On the occasion of World Environment Day, the festival of tree planting is being celebrated all over the world. This day is celebrated as a day of awakening to preserve the soil, crops, fruits and everything.           

      ICAR Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Shivamogga has celebrated World Environment Day on 5th June 2022.  This  programme  was  inaugurated  Mr. M. Basavaraja, Scientist (Agronomy) KVK, Shivamogga who delivered the awareness speech on “Threat to the environment due to pollutions and climate change”. The major topics covered were issue of environment pollution, advantages of forestation, drastic climatic changes, greenhouse effect, global warming.
