World Food Day
        ICAR - Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Shivamogga organized the special programme “Celebration of World Food Day” on 16/10/2022 at Hallikere village of Bhadravathi Taluk. During the programme, Dr. B. C. Hanumanthaswamy, Senior Scientist and Head, KVK, Shivamogga given introductory speech and welcomed everyone. In his speech, he explained the importance, significance and need of celebration of world food day and also gave detailed information about the theme of world food day “Leave No One Behind” with Better production, Better nutrition, Better environment and Better life. He also suggested the participants to include the nutritious food in their daily food diet to combat the malnutrition.

        Dr. Arun Kumar, Scientist (Agricultural Extension), KVK, Shivamogga explained in detail about the management of waste of agricultural and horticultural crops. He also briefed about the preparation and production of compost using arecanut waste residues and also discussed about the cost economics of production of compost.

        Dr. Jyoti M. Rathod, Scientist (Home Science), KVK, Shivamogga discussed the role of world food day and ways to mitigate the hidden hunger. She also explained in detail about the importance, nutritional health benefits and value addition of agricultural and horticultural crops such as value addition in ragi, maize, green gram, cereals, mango, pineapple, jackfruit, banana, papaya, tomato and potato etc.
