World Coconut Day
          ICAR - Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Shivamogga organized “World Coconut Day-2022” under the theme "Growing Coconut for a Better Future and Life" on 02/09/2022 at Esuru village of Shikaripura Taluk. During the programme Miss. Smitha, G. B., Scientist (Horticulture), KVK Shivamogga explained the importance of celebration of World Coconut Day. She explained that, World Coconut Day is observed on September 2 to commemorate the formation of Asian Pacific Coconut Community (APCC). The APCC is headquartered at Jakarta, Indonesia and all major coconut growing countries including India are members of APCC.

          Further she discussed and briefed about the cultivation aspects of coconut such as suitable soil and climate, classification of varieties (tender coconut water, oil extraction and copra production), mother palm selection, seedling selection, nutrition requirement, spacing requirement, inter-cropping, pest and disease management and yield.

          The farmers also interacted with the scientist related to the other problems faced by them on cultivation aspects of coconut. Totally 30 farmers were benefitted from this special programme.
